Theresa Dowell, Family Nurse Practitioner, Physical Therapist founded the clinic to meet the need for health care providers specializing in complex medical conditions. As both a FNP and PT with extensive training in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and Post-Acute COVID Syndrome, she is equipped with the necessary tools to improve her patients’ health and the quality of their lives.
Dr. Dowell received her Bachelor of Nursing and Master of Physical Therapy at Northern Arizona University. She continued her education at Duke University where she received her Master of Nursing Science and Doctor of Nursing Practice. She received her specialized training in the field of Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia from the top clinicians and researchers in the field including Jose Montoya, MD of Stanford University, John Chia, MD of ID Medical Associates and Lucinda Bateman, MD of Bateman Horne Center. She is a member of the US ME/CFS Clinicians Coalition which is made up of the top ME/CFS clinicians and researchers in the country. Dr. Dowell has completed an ECHO course on hEDS and has substantial training in Dysautonomia, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and is successfully treating Post-Acute Covid Syndrome.
Introducing our new provider
Dr. Nat Metz is a family nurse practitioner who received their Master of Science in Nursing and Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, KY. They bring healthcare experience from a variety of settings, including hospital-based acute care, oncology, and office-based primary care. Dr. Metz is comfortable managing complex chronic conditions and has knowledge and training in Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), Fibromyalgia, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), and Post-Acute COVID Syndrome (PASC). Dr. Metz has trained for several years under Dr. Dowell and continues to pursue educational opportunities that keep them up to date on the newest research and treatment breakthroughs.
Dr. Metz has a special interest in this field because their spouse has suffered from many of these illnesses for 10+ years. They understand the frustration of being dismissed by the traditional medical system and strive to make all patients feel seen, heard, validated, and like a partner in care. Dr. Metz aims to provide affirming, culturally competent, body-positive, and trauma-informed care to every unique client. They look forward to meeting you soon!
